The deacon and deaconess ministry covers a wide range of activities and involves important and sometimes challenging responsibilities.
The church ushers play a critical role when it comes to church events. The ushers are some of the first individuals who interact with visitors and members as they enter the building, thus a representation of the church.
The purpose of this department is to ensure the safety and security of the members and the church facility.
Within the communications ministry you will find the audio and visual departments. The role of the communications department is to ensure that members are kept informed and the church is properly represented to the public through the church website, social media and various other outlets. The audio and visual teams work to ensure that sound and visual effects are properly executed during church services.
Music is a vibrant part of the worship service. As you study many of the Psalms, you will find that verses were sung as praises to God. The purpose of the music ministry is to lift hearts and voices heavenward.
The strength of the church is based in the spiritual life of its members and families. God expects families to have mutually satisfying relationships (Mal. 4:6). He desires that husbands and wives experience unity (Matt. 19:5, 6); that parents “do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4).
The purpose of the Women’s Ministries is to encourage, equip, promote, and challenge Adventist women in their journey as disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His Church and to bring women’s perspectives to the issues facing the Church.
This ministry is meant to encourage and facilitate meaningful spiritual, mental and emotional growth among the men of the church.
Reaching and empowering single adults to create a Christ-centered, safe places for fellowship, nurture and service.
The ministry goal is to maintain a strong relationship with Jesus, while developing and showing genuine love for all people.
From its inception Sabbath School has focused on four emphases that are still prominent to this day: fellowship development, community outreach, Bible study, and foreign mission. A solid balance of these elements characterizes the most vital Sabbath Schools around the world.
The children’s ministry works to recruit, screen, equip and support children’s leaders and to be an advocate for children. The ministry also serves to develop children through various activities such as children’s church, AJY and Vacation Bible School.
The Adventurer Club is for children in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. Membership is open to boys and girls from the church and community. Leading children to Christ is an integral part of the Adventurer program. When children are well grounded in their beliefs at a young age, they are more likely to remain in the church as teens and adults.
Pathfinders is a worldwide organization of young people sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, though young people belonging to any church, or none at all, are welcome and encouraged to join. The most important goal of the Pathfinder ministry is to lead young people into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
VIEW PAGEWhen His disciples would have sent the young people away, thinking that they were interrupting the important work of the Master, Christ said “Let them come… for such is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 19:14). Teenagers form a precious, most important part of God’s church. They are not only the “church of the future,” but also the church of the present.
The community service ministry works to serve our local community through weekly food distribution. The department also collects clothes and supplies that is also given away to those in need.
The dictionary defines hospitality as, “the friendly reception and treatment of guests or strangers.” The hospitality department strives to make the experience of guests and members a pleasant and enjoyable one, especially in the area of food.
The Education department has an important role to play in the church. Ellen G. White states, “True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come.” Education 13.1
The Seventh-day Adventist Church’s health message is both spiritual and practical. When we have clear minds, we are better able to understand the will of God (1 Corinthians 2:9-16), and those with healthy bodies are a powerful witness of God’s crowning design and creation (Romans 8:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Deuteronomy 4:4, 6; Psalm 67:2).
